一元复始，万象更新。 迎接2022年第一缕曙光，我们在美丽的康乐园向全校师生员工、离退休老同志、海内外校友和长期关心、支持中山大学发展的社会各界人士，致以崇高的敬意和美好的新年祝福！ 2021年，是党和国家历史上具有里程碑意义的一年。我们隆重庆祝中国共产党成立一百周年，实现第一个百年奋斗目标，开启向第二个百年奋斗目标进军新征程，实现了“十四五”良好开局。 2021年，也是中山大学发展史上浓墨重彩的一年。学校坚持以习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想为指导，树牢“四个意识”，坚定“四个自信”，做到“两个维护”。坚持加强党对学校事业的全面领导，深入学习贯彻党的十九届六中全会精神，深化拓展党史学习教育，坚决做好巡视整改工作。李克强总理来校考察，高度肯定学校底蕴深厚、成果丰硕，勉励同学们要秉持校训，刻苦学习，将来服务社会，报效国家。总理的勉励令人鼓舞、催人奋进。 2021年，中山大学不断完善学校党的组织体系，加强基层党建工作，将党支部建立在大项目、大平台、大团队上。建立师生党支部建设标准，大力推进党建标准化、规范化、品牌化、信息化建设。开展“对标争先”项目培育创建工作，选树了一批新时代高校党建“双创”工作标杆院系、样板支部和“双带头人”教师党支部书记工作室。深入推进三全育人综合改革，践行用最优秀的人培养更优秀的人和育人育己的教育理念。深入挖掘学校红色基因和时代意义，融入大学文化建设，凝聚了广大师生思想共识，汇聚起学校建设合力。 2021年，中山大学坚守博学、审问、慎思、明辨、笃行的校训，紧密围绕“双一流”建设目标，全面落实立德树人的根本任务，坚持“四个面向”，着力提升人才培养质量，深入推进人才工作，聚焦内涵式发展。 2021年，中山大学加快推进人才培养高质量发展，积极探索具有中大特色的培养模式。9月，实现跨院系大类招生和集中培养，大一新生在南校园学习生活，感受百年中大的精神底蕴和文化传统。坚持“五个融合”，建立健全课堂准入机制。加快精品教材建设，完善教学质量保障体系。全面实施创优工程，推动医学教育教学改革。生源质量、国家一流专业、强基拔尖计划、国家教材奖、省级教学成果奖等方面都取得了显著成效。 2021年，中山大学坚持“四个面向”，发挥学校基础研究深厚，学科交叉融合优势，瞄准解决“卡脖子”技术难题，承担国家任务能力大幅提升。“中山大学”号海洋综合科考实习船顺利入泊母港，“中山大学·极地”号极地科考船完成接收，中大人开启了海洋强国梦的新征程。学校聚焦国家战略需求，立足粤港澳大湾区发展，开展核心技术攻关，南方海洋实验室、天琴中心、超算中心、精准医学科学中心、中子谱仪等重大科研创新平台和粤港澳发展研究院等高端智库建设主动发力。2021年学校成果转化合同和到账金额，双双超过“十三五”期间总和。 2021年，中山大学助力云南省凤庆县、广东省连州市丰阳镇，巩固拓展脱贫攻坚成果同乡村振兴有效衔接。全力开展对口援疆、援藏工作，教育、医疗、服务地方发展多领域建设硕果累累。中山大学附属喀什医院（国家区域医疗中心）正式成为国家区域医疗中心试点单位。20多名支教队员在西藏、云南、广西等地，以深沉的家国情怀，用热血青春为民族团结和乡村振兴赓续奋斗，践行中大人的使命担当。 2022年，我们将喜迎党的二十大召开。在第二个百年奋斗的新征程上，我们继往开来砥砺奋进，开启事业发展的崭新画卷。 衷心祝愿伟大的祖国更加繁荣昌盛！ 衷心祝愿老师们、同学们、校友们、朋友们新年快乐，身体健康，阖家幸福！ 陈春声 高 松 2021年12月31日 2022 New Year’s Message from Sun Yat-sen University As the new year begins, all things start anew. With the first ray of sunlight of 2022 over the charming Kangle Yuan, we would like to pay high tribute and extend our best New Year wishes to all our students, current and retired faculty and staff, alumni at home and abroad, and friends from all walks of life, who have always cared for and supported the development of Sun Yat-sen University. The year 2021 was a landmark year in the history of the CPC and the PRC. The Chinese people celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, fulfilled the First Centenary Goal, embarked on a new journey to achieve the Second Centenary Goal, and ensured a good start of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The year 2021 was also a significant year in the development of Sun Yat-sen University. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the University firmly promoted the “Four Consciousnesses”, fortified the “Four Matters of Confidence”, and ensured the “Two Upholds”. The University also strengthened and upheld the Party’s overall leadership on all its undertakings, carried out in-depth study and implementation of the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, furthered and expanded the learning and education of the CPC history, and unwaveringly pushed ahead with Party discipline inspections and rectification work. During his visit to the University, Premier Li Keqiang highly commended SYSU’s rich heritage and remarkable achievements, and encouraged students to uphold the University’s motto, work hard and serve the society and the country in the future. Premier Li’s words were extremely inspiring and uplifting for us all. In 2021, Sun Yat-sen University continued the improvement of the Party organization system, strengthened primary-level Party building, and established Party branches for major projects, platforms, and teams. The University set up standards for the building of Party branches for students and faculty, and vigorously promoted Party building with a branding strategy featuring standardization, normalization and informatization. Efforts were also made to carry out project development and cultivation in “striving for advancement while keeping up with standards”, select multiple benchmark schools and departments, model Party branches, and studios for teachers’ Party branches secretaries who excel in both Party building and academic fields. It has also promoted comprehensive reform of “All Staff Education, Whole Process Education, All-round Education”, implemented the education philosophy of “cultivating better students with the best faculty”, and “bettering the faculty before cultivating the students”. The revolutionary spirit in SYSU’s DNA and its contemporary significance were thoroughly explored and integrated into the cultural development of the University, which fostered extensive ideological consensus among faculty and students, and pooled strengths to form synergies in the further development of the University. In 2021, Sun Yat-sen University adhered to its motto of “Study Extensively, Enquire Accurately, Reflect Carefully, Discriminate Clearly, Practice Earnestly”, stayed focused on fulfilling the “Double First-class” development goals, and fully implemented the primary task of fostering virtue through education. With a focus on organic growth, it adhered to the “Four Orientations”, highlighted the improvement of the quality of talent cultivation, and broke new ground for talent-related work. In 2021, Sun Yat-sen University accelerated high-quality development of talent cultivation, and actively explored the education model with SYSU characteristics. In September, the introduction of the cross-departmental enrollment and centralized education enabled all first-year students to live and study on the Guangzhou South Campus, where they are able to feel the cultural heritage and tradition of this century-old university. The University also adhered to the “Five Integrations”, and established a sound class entry mechanism. The development of high-quality teaching materials was promoted to improve the teaching quality assurance system. Efforts were also made to fully implement the “Excellence Creation” project and promote the teaching reform of medical education. Significant results were achieved in multiple areas, including enrollment quality improvement, national first-class majors, plans for strengthening basic disciplines to recruit top-notch innovative talents in basic disciplines, the national excellent teaching material award, and provincial teaching achievement awards. In 2021, Sun Yat-sen University adhered to the “Four Orientations”, gave full play to its strengths in fundamental research and interdisciplinary integration, strived to make breakthroughs in key technologies, and significantly enhanced its capacity to undertake national tasks. With the return of “Zhong Shan Da Xue”, China’s largest-ever oceanographic research and training vessel, to its home port, and the delivery of the “Zhong Shan Da Xue, Ji Di”, a comprehensive scientific expedition vessel, SYSUers embarked on a new journey towards building China into a great maritime power. To meet the national strategic needs, the University stayed focused on tackling key technological problems to promote the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Initiatives were made in developing major scientific research and innovation platforms, such as the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Zhuhai), the TianQin Research Center for Gravitational Physics, the National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou, the Center for Precision Medicine, and Sunlight Spectrometer, as well as high-end think tanks such as the Institute of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Development Studies. Both the contract value and amount from commercialization of scientific and technological achievements of the University in 2021 alone exceeded the total figure for the whole 13th Five-Year Period. In 2021, Sun Yat-sen University provided support for Fengqing County, Yunnan Province, and Fengyang Town, Lianzhou City, Guangdong Province, building an organic connection between consolidating and expanding poverty alleviation results and rural revitalization. The University worked hard in assisting Xinjiang and Tibet, and achieved great success in the fields of education, medical care and local development. The Kashgar Hospital Affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University (National Regional Medical Center) officially became a pilot unit of the National Regional Medical Center. More than 20 members of the volunteer teaching team held their posts with tenacity in regions such as Tibet, Yunnan and Guangxi, fighting hard for ethnic unity and rural revitalization with their patriotism and righteous ardor, and living up to the mission and responsibilities of SYSUers. The coming year 2022 will witness the 20th CPC National Congress. As we embark on a new journey to fulfill the Second Centenary Goal, we shall continue to march ahead with courage, and write another new chapter in the development of Sun Yat-sen University.
