Parts of the UK waved goodbye to our long heatwave yesterday as heavy rain began to sweep across the country. A group of scientists studied more than 7,000 patients diagnosed with headaches in one medical centre in Boston between the years 2000 and 2007, according to Scientific American. At the same time, they also scoured National Weather Service data to monitor fluctuations in temperature, humidity and barometric pressure within 72 hours of each patient's visit.
As well as finding that an increase in temperature increased chances of getting a headache, they also discovered that headache risk increased by an average of 6% with every 5 millimetre drop in barometric pressure that occurred.
